A personal computer game (also known as a computer game or simply PC game) is a game played on a personal computer, rather than on a video game console or arcade machine. Computer games have evolved from the simple graphics and gameplay of early titles like Spacewar!, to a wide range of more visually advanced titles.

PC games are created by one or more game developers, often in conjunction with other specialists (such as game artists) and either published independently or through a third party publisher. They may then be distributed on physical media such as DVDs and CDs, as Internet-downloadable shareware, or through online delivery services such as Direct2Drive and Steam. PC games often require specialized hardware in the user's computer in order to play, such as a specific generation of graphics processing unit or an Internet connection for online play, although these system requirements vary from game to game.

Customer Reviews of The Sims 3

    Rating : Stop complaining, it's a good game, June 30, 2009

    By Rufus
I think many people here giving negative reviews simply haven't spent their time throughly playing the sims 3.

The open neighbourhood concept is just stunning, no more 10 minute loads everytime you want to visit a community lot like sims 1 or 2. This game loads in about 2 mins on my 2 yr old PC and no more loading after that !
heck, it even runs faster than my expansion pack cladden sims 2. I think many people complaining about graphics simply have crap computers and are playing at low settings. I suggest going out and spending about 40 bucks on a graphics card, it will make everything so much better. The whole neighbourhood is rendered at once, draw distance and water effects are just amazing.

my only big gripe with this game is that >>> speed is too slow. It quickly gets dull waiting for your sim to finish work or finish sleeping, that's why I'm giving it a 4/5. Hopefully, a patch/hack will alleviate this problem.

but other than that, people from maxis have made a very good game

    Rating : Don't Buy This Game!, June 30, 2009

By Deb in Las Vegas (Las Vegas)

I highly anticipated the arrival of the Sims 3. After loading and unloading several times to get the game the same quality as Sims 2, I gave up. The game runs very choppy. And my system requirements meet all specs. I wish I had not purchased this game in advance. If you are a true Sims 2 fan, you will not like this game. Also, I found it very difficult to use. I will hold on to the game hoping for some patches, but I doubt nothing EA can do will improve this game. It is nothing like the screens they showed on their site to entice the Sims lovers to buy the game. I am very disapointed. EA this game is bad bad bad. Sims lovers don't waste your money.

    Rating : What a waste of a day,, June 30, 2009

    By L. J. W.
I am a huge sim fan, I have been for a long time. I was waiting for the longest time for this game, I even updated my ram to play this game. The traits seemed cool... The making of the sims was fun, selection was lacking though, colors were awesome. I adored the color wheel, however, its buggy and all the buildings are damn rabbit holes, HORRIBLE.

Finding that out for certain was terrible. What a waste of money and a waste of time.

Don't waste your money, don't waste your time. I went against all the bad ratings to give it a try... no no no!

I could go in more detail about it, but just warning everyone else is best. Listen to the bad reviews, they are so true, can't believe I uninstalled my sims 2 for this, will be reinstalling tomorrow!

    Rating : Incredibly Disappointing, June 30, 2009

    By Elizabeth French
I really enjoyed the sims3 for the first couple of days I had it. But now, less than a week after purchase, I will be re-selling my copy of the game.

There are an obscene number of bugs in this game. One of my sims went shopping for books, got stuck, and died. A baby got kidnapped because a visitor was holding her when he left, and mysteriously disappeared from my household, leaving their parents unable to conceive. But most irritating of all, the crashes. I am a mac user, and my game crashes anywhere from every 15 minutes to three hours. This means I must constantly save, which takes nearly two minutes, a surprisingly long amount of time which gets really annoying, really quickly. In addition, if the game crashes DURING a save, the save game is lost. A backup game does exist, but for $50.00 I should not have to deal with these kinds of headaches.

Second, the content on the sims3 is criminally small. This is because EA wants you to buy furniture, hairstyles, and clothes from their game store, for 25 cents to a dollar per item. It should also be noted that the tutorial is exceptionally sparse; perhaps because EA is hocking an official Sims3 game guide?

But the real reason I am selling my game is that the way I have played in the past is no longer possible on the sims3. I enjoyed creating multiple households which interacted. Because of something new called story progression I can no longer do this. Households which are not active now progress when you are not playing them, which means your sims age, die, have children, etc. So a game that I spent hours and hours on can just disappear if the family decides to leave the neighborhood. Thanks, EA.

But even this feature doesn't work correctly. When I returned to a family which I had left with two toddlers and two adults, I found that the mother (who had been created on the same day as the father) was now 15 days older than him, the son, who had been the baby of the family was now an adult still in high school, and his older sister had magically become his younger sister. I just looked at that and thought to myself, I have no interest in straightening out this mess, and closed the game.

There are some pros. The new personality trait system is really interesting, as are the skills achievements, and I really like the new gardening skill. The seamless neighborhood is also nicely designed. But on the whole, the quality of this game is shamefully poor, with the patchy production outweighing the new features, especially after a few hours of gameplay when the novelty has worn off.

Overall, I would suggest you save your money. Its certainly what I'll be advising my friends and family to do.

    Rating : What a let down....., June 30, 2009

    By Cheated (Washington, IN)

Okay, I'm a die-hard fan of the SIms. I've owned both the Sims 1 and Sims 2, plus a great many (if not all) of the expansion packs. So when the Sims 3 came out I couldn't wait to get a copy. So far it's been a major let down. a few problems is poor graphics, aweful character customization (a downgrade from Sims 2) and a huge lack in content! And the fact that you cannot create your own neighborhood or lot placement is a real downside for me. Half the fun of Sims after all, is in designing and creating interesting towns, lots and families.
The few pluses to the game is that now your characters have more of a unique personality and more free will of their own. Another thing is their a lot smarter as well, a big plus. But besides theses 3 features there's not a whole lot of improvement over the Sims 2. Maybe the next expansion pack will fix some of these problems, but I'm definitly going to wait a read the reviews before I buy.....
