The Game Boy Advance (???????????, G?mu B?i Adobansu?, often shortened to GBA) is a 32-bit handheld video game console developed, manufactured and marketed by Nintendo. It is the successor to the Game Boy Color. It was released in Japan on March 21, 2001; in North America on June 11, 2001; in Australia and Europe on June 22, 2001; and in the People's Republic of China on June 8, 2004 (excluding Hong Kong).

In 1996, magazines including issues 53 and 54 of Total! and the July 1996 issue of Game Informer featured reports of a new Game Boy, codenamed Project Atlantis. Although the expected release date of "early 1997" would make that machine seem to be the Game Boy Color, it was described as having "a 32-bit RISC processor" and "allowing similar to Super Nintendo Entertainment System standard games-playing to be played in the palm of your hand"?a description that more closely matches the Game Boy Advance. It is also may have referred to the unnamed, unreleased Game Boy Color successor prototype that was revealed at 2009's Game Developer's Conference.

In early 2003, Nintendo introduced a new Game Boy Advance (model AGS-001) that looks like a pocket-size laptop, with an internal front-light that can be turned on or off, a rechargeable lithium ion battery, as well as a folding case approximately half the original size. It was designed to address some common issues with the original Game Boy Advance which was criticized for being somewhat uncomfortable, especially due to an overly dark screen.[citation needed] The Game Boy Advance SP also came with a new and much brighter LCD screen for improved playability.

My four year old really enjoys this game. We got it for him for Christmas, and even thoughhe can't beat it yet he still has fun playing as his favorite Recue Hero.

By mom of 1 angel (New York)

I bought this game for my 4 year old for christmas and he loved it and with a little (and I mean little) he beat all 8 levels and the game the other day. We played it through the game player on our gamecube so it was easier to see. Great game Billy Blazes never dies, not violent. good choice for young ones

Rating : Great game for 5 and 6 year olds, July 31, 2004

By N. Daly "full time mom" (Philadelphia, PA USA)

What a great game boy advance game! We searched high and low for something my 5 year old could play on his game boy that wouldn't frustrate him...this game fits the bill perfectly! He is a rescue hero fan, which makes this game even more fun! It's challenging enough to interest him, his 6 year old brother and even me, his mom, yet it's simple enough that he can get through the levels and feel a sense of accomplishment. I would highly recommend this game for the younger set of game boy players! It's really fun!

Rating : One of top 3 rated games in Nintendo Power when released, June 30, 2004

    By GamerWithKids (So Cal)

Look...if you're too old to care who the rescue heroes are, don't bother. But if your kid is in that age range, this is just a good game.

When it came out, it was one of the top rated games in Nintendo Power...GameBoy Advance or otherwise. The developer also did Sabrina, and the publisher was Knowledge Adventure division of Vivendi, and they know kids.

It's challenging for the older kids, but the easy level will let the player be Billy Blazes and put out fires without much worry about dying, and that's going to be fun.

I doubt anyone is ever going to spend as much money as they probably did on a Rescue Heroes game again, so get it before it leaves the shelf.
