         Microsoft Xbox Video Game Platform

The Xbox is a sixth-generation video game console produced by Microsoft. It was Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market, and competed with Sony's PlayStation 2, Sega's Dreamcast, and Nintendo's Nintendo GameCube. The integrated Xbox Live service allows players to compete online.

The Xbox was released on November 15, 2001 in North America, February 22, 2002 in Japan, and March 14, 2002 in Australia and Europe. It is the predecessor to Microsoft's Xbox 360 console. It was discontinued in late 2006, although the final Xbox game was released in August 2008. Support for out-of-warranty Xbox consoles was discontinued on March 2, 2009, although in-warranty repairs will still be done.

The Xbox was the first major console to incorporate a hard disk drive, used primarily for storing game saves compressed in ZIP archives and content downloaded from Xbox Live. This eliminated the need for separate memory cards (although some older consoles, such as the TurboGrafx-CD, Sega CD and Sega Saturn had featured built-in battery backup memory prior to 2007). An Xbox user could rip music from standard audio CDs to the hard drive, and these songs were used for the custom soundtracks in some games.

The Xbox was the first gaming product to feature Dolby Interactive Content-Encoding Technology, which allows real-time Dolby Digital encoding in game consoles. Previous game consoles could only use Dolby Digital 5.1 during non-interactive "cut scene" playback.

The Xbox is based on commodity PC hardware and is much larger and heavier than its contemporaries. This is largely due to a bulky tray-loading DVD-ROM drive and the standard-size 3.5 inch hard drive. The Xbox has also pioneered safety features, such as breakaway cables for the controllers to prevent the console from being pulled from the surface it rests on.

JSRF is one of the greatest games ever. I always admire a dev team who tries to make a great game. Great soundtrack, good graphics, good controls. Style alone puts this game at the top of any all time great list. That is why I hate the video game markets, great games collect dust in the store, while movie tie in games and games that end in z, (Petz BAbyz)etc... sweep of the shelves.

Rating : JSRF as fun as the original, almost....., October 31, 2008

    By Jeff Brugamyer (Amarillo, TX)

As one of the few that bought a dreamcast and even one of the fewer that bought the original, Jet Set Radio Future can stand on its own feet as a great addition to the orinal xbox linup.
Graphics: The developers stuck with cel-shading agian for the sequel and pushed the graphics capability of the xbox as far as it could. It must be said that JSRF released with the xbox. I love the cel-shading as it definitley fits the JSRF world with vibrant colors and great level designs.
Multiplayer: I found the multiplayer to be lacking in this game and not fun at all.
Story: Similar to the first one as you're a member of the GG's fighting against rival gangs for territory and the cops as well as Gouji Rokakku. You won't feel to connected to the characters that well but they added a few new members to the lineup my personal favorite was Jazz and then you have Clutch and one other. They changed up Tab's name to Corn, Mew to Rthye, Slate to Soda and Pirahana to can't remember which is puzzling to me because I like the original names. DJ Professor K still narrorates the story.
Music: I loved the music to the first one and this one is no different for the second. There are a few songs that get on your nerves but overall is an enjoyment to the game.
Controls: Controls are still easy but landing on things can be frustrating at times. They took out what to me made the first game so awesome and that was the grafitti. In the first one you had to move your joystick in half circles and full circles, in this one you just pull the trigger and it sprays for you. That really detatched me from the game because this game is based on grafitti and now I can't feel like I'm doing grafitti anymore.
I overall enjoyed this game and beat it twice but with not being able to control the grafitti aspect of the game and not being able to feel somewhat attacted to the characters doesn't make this game worthy of 5 stars. It gets a 4 from me.

By far, this is one of the best Xbox Games around. I bought it, and purchased the soundtrack as well because I loved it so much. This remains one of my favorite games, as I grew up in around grafitti, and that's not something usually included in a video game. The game play is innovative. What other game has such lovingly crafted cell-shading, or allows you to skate AND spraypaint?
It's easy to be immersed in this game. Anyone with a brain can tell you this game is loads of fun. I've spent hours exploring the different parts of town. There are occasional boss battles and encounters with rival grafitti gangs, but the premise of the game is mostly to throw your tags/grafitti up around town as much as possible, and pull off some neat tricks and stunts. Not to mention the fun you'll have spraying the cops. There's even some racing involved, and different tasks to do when in town, especially when you meet up with some of the other "gangs".
Personally, I don't really care for skating games. Tony Hawk gets more and more boring abd redundant each year, the first few were fun, but this is definitely something new. For each new unlockable part of town there is a set of unique challenges. Just about anything you see is accessible. Want to grind up that giant dinosaur? Go right ahead. Ever want to skate across the power lines? Have at it; the world is your oyster. You can literally spend hours just exploring and finding secrets, and looking at all the amazing things going on in town. The dialogue is funny as well.
The graphics are kind of similar to Okami or Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, in that it's cell shaded, but in an almost "Harajuku" style. Bold and vibrant colors, distinct characters with lots of funky accoutrements (like boom boxes, large headphones, funky clothes). Game play is smooth, little or no lag at all, even though this was an Xbox original game.
This isn't a violent game, no blood and guts, but instead this game is purely about sitting down with a controller and having a rewarding experience, without getting too frustrated with puzzles or getting fragged every 30 seconds. This game is lighthearted joy on a disc. It's very appealing, probably to anyone who is into the grafitti subculture/style, reads art & culture magazines like Juxtapoz and Giant Robot, and can appreciate the distinct style. Casual gamers and hardcore gamers alike have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy this treasure of a game.
Regrettably, some people just don't understand it. The people that gave this a 1 in the reviews are probably all inbred, uncultured trash with I.Q.'s under 70.
    But you're a smart person, aren't you?
